The PinkPrints Project

When I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer, my life flipped upside down. I had just been offered a role with Hewson Brothers Building Supply but I thought I’d have to turn it down. Who would hire someone who was about to spend the next year in chemo and radiation?

Jeff and Len did.

They didn’t hesitate. They gave me the flexibility, understanding, and support to keep working in a career I love while I fought for my life. That kind of support changes everything — and it’s something I wish every woman in treatment could have.

The truth? Most don’t.

The Real Cost of Breast Cancer

There’s a side of breast cancer that pink ribbons don’t talk about: the financial toll. Treatments are exhausting. Work hours are cut. Incomes drop. Meanwhile, the bills keep coming — rent, groceries, heat, childcare.

As Donna Sheehan, founder of the Breast Cancer Support Fund, puts it:

"The truth about breast cancer is the financial burden can be just as devastating as the physical and emotional impact. That’s why we lessen the financial burden of patients who are living in poverty while they’re in treatment."

That’s why this fall, we’re ditching the pink-washing — the mugs, t-shirts, and “awareness” campaigns that don’t actually pay anyone’s bills — and we’re building something better: The PinkPrints Project.

What is The PinkPrints Project?

The PinkPrints Project is a women-led, construction-fueled fundraising initiative powered by survivors, tradeswomen, friends, and allies who know what it takes to build through adversity. Every single dollar raised goes directly to the Breast Cancer Support Fund, covering the day-to-day essentials for women in active treatment across Southern Ontario.

No fluff. No corporate gloss. No empty gestures.

Just rent paid. Groceries bought. Lights kept on. Kids looked after.

How We’re Doing It

  • Stories That Matter – We’ll be sharing PinkPrints from survivors, tradeswomen, and donors about why they’re part of this movement.

  • Bold Fundraising Installations – Attention-grabbing builds that stop people in their tracks and inspire them to give.

  • Community Power – A network of construction industry partners ready to roll up their sleeves and help.

How You Can Be Part of It

If you’re tired of pink campaigns that don’t do much for the women actually living through breast cancer, this is your chance to help build real change.

You can:

  • Donate online — Every cent goes directly to helping women cover living expenses during treatment.

  • Sponsor the campaign — Partner with us and help us make a bigger impact, sharing impact, & custom branded media

  • Share the PinkPrints — The more people who know, the more women we can help.

This isn’t about awareness. It’s about action. It’s about giving women the breathing room they need to focus on what matters most: healing.

💗 Let’s stop painting it pink and start building it better.
